WinSCP

Learn how to use WinSCP with Filebase.

What is WinSCP?

WinSCP is a popular SFTP FTP client for Windows. WinSCP allows you to copy files between a local computer and remote servers using FTP, FTPS, SCP, SFTP, WebDAV, or S3 file transfer protocols.

Read below to learn how to use WinSCP for use with Filebase.

Prerequisites:

1. Open WinSCP. Select the ‘New Session’ tab.

You will be prompted to configure session information. Enter the following configuration information to configure your Filebase session:

  • File Protocol: Amazon S3

  • Host Name: s3.filebase.com

  • Port Number: 443

  • Access Key ID: Filebase Access Key

  • Secret Access Key: Filebase Secret Key

2. Select ‘Save’ to save the session configuration information.

You will be prompted to save the information as a site. Provide a site name and a folder, if applicable, and select ‘Ok’.

3. Once saved, you will need to login to the session.

Select ‘Login’ to do so.

4. You will be prompted to enter your secret access key again:

5. Once logged in, your Filebase buckets will be listed on the right hand side of the WinSCP window, and your local file system will be on the left.

From here, you can transfer files back and forth between your local file system and your Filebase buckets.

6. To transfer files to your Filebase bucket, select the files in the left side window and drag them to the bucket in the right side window.

7. You will be prompted to confirm the transfer of the selected files to the intended bucket.

8. A window will appear showing you the transfer progress.

This same process works in reverse to transfer files from your Filebase buckets to your local file system.
