Learn how to backup your data to Filebase using Arq.

What is Arq?

Arq is an easy to use, secure file backup solution for Mac OSX and Windows. Arq works with any cloud environment, such as Filebase, Dropbox, Google Drive, and others.
Arq protects your data through strong encryption with a key only you know. Arq uses multiple threads and LZ4 compression for very fast throughput. Arq offers sophisticated file-exclusion filters, storage budgeting, extensive logging, email reports, many scheduling options, and full control over which networks and how much bandwidth Arq uses.

  • Download and Install Arq.
  • Have Your Filebase Access and Secret Keys. Learn how to view your access keys here.

1. Add Your Backup Destination

When you launch Arq for the first time, you’re asked to choose a new storage location. Select “Filebase'' and hit Continue.

2. Enter your Filebase Access and Secret Keys.

3. Choosing a Bucket

Either create a new bucket or choose an existing bucket to use with Arq.
If you choose to use a new bucket, remember that the bucket name must be unique across all Filebase users, be between 3 and 63 characters long, and can contain only lowercase characters, numbers, and dashes.

4. After hitting continue, you should see Filebase in your Destinations list.

5. Configure Backups.

To configure a backup schedule, select the ‘File’ menu, then ‘New Backup Plan’. Select Filebase as the destination.

6. Encrypt your backup with a password.

7. Choose drives, folders, or files to backup.

8. Save your backup plan. Then select ‘Back Up Now’ to start the backup job.
