Learn how to backup your OpenDrives NAS device to Filebase.

What is OpenDrives?

OpenDrives is a suite of Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices used for storing and keeping local or onsite backups of data. NAS devices come in many sizes and configurations, both for home users and enterprise level data storage. While they are important pieces of disaster and data recovery plans, if something were to destroy or corrupt the NAS device, the data stored on it would be lost. Therefore, backing up your NAS device to a form of offsite, cloud storage is just as important to your disaster or data recovery plan.

OpenDrives Atlas is certified for use with Filebase. Read below for steps to configure your OpenDrives NAS device for backups to Filebase.

Prerequisites:

• Download and install OpenDrives Atlas on an OpenDrives NAS device.

• Sign up for a free Filebase account.

• Have your Filebase Access and Secret Keys. Learn how to view your access keys here.

• Create a Filebase Bucket. Learn how to create a bucket here.

1. Open the OpenDrives Atlas interface. Navigate to Storage > Mount Management on the left side menu. Select ‘New Mount’.

2. From the 'FileSystem Type' menu, select S3. Fill out the following information:

• Bucket: Your Filebase Bucket Name

• Endpoint: s3.filebase.com

• Mountpoint: Enter the local mount point where you want the bucket mounted on the OpenDrives device.

3. Select the Mount Profile to use for the connection. Create a new profile by selecting ‘Add Profile’. Enter the following information:

• Name: Name for the profile

• AWS Access Key ID: Filebase Access Key

• AWS Secret Access Key: Filebase Secret Key

Enable ‘Persistent’ if this mount point should be enabled every time the device is rebooted.

4. Once successfully mounted, you should see the mount point:

You should now be able to explore the contents of the bucket and manage the files contained in the bucket.

From here, you can configure your NAS device to backup or replicate it's data to this mount point.
